Wrapt - "Playing with Pain" - An AfterDark Rope Jam

Hosted by Bluhbluhhugeb, TinyScreams, IguanaBonds, and G_Jessie

At this month’s skill share, we’ll explore a few ways to bring the immediacy of pain into our ties. Whether you are a bully, sadist, or just want to indulge your partner’s need to suffer, we hope these quick, beginner-friendly ties help you be more playfully mean. Join us at “Playing with Pain” or make use of ample tying and suspension space for your own rope practice at Stopgap on February 24.

Wrapt is a rope jam for people of all skill levels to meet other rope enthusiasts and explore, learn, practice, and play. Each jam will begin with an opening circle where basic safety, negotiation, and consent guidelines will be discussed and all attendees will have an opportunity to introduce themselves. This will be followed by an optional beginner-friendly skill-share/demonstration and open tying time.

Loaner rope will be available to borrow; come make use of our fantastic venue Stopgap and the many hardpoints available!

Venue

Wrapt takes place at Stopgap - a historic space, near 9th and Mission, transformed by club lighting and an ambient music backdrop, this event promises an atmosphere where you can relax, learn, and play freely. There is ample space and mats for floor ties and at least 20 hardpoints for those ready to practice suspension bondage. The first floor is fully accessible, with social areas and accessible play equipment near power outlets. The exact venue address will be sent to ticket holders only for privacy and safety reasons, but it is in SoMa.

Event Rules & Guidelines

  1. Ask for affirmative consent before touching another person or their things, engaging in play, or escalation of play.
  2. Don’t cruise for play. Emphasize skill sharing, learning, and respectful socializing.
  3. Depending on the number of attendees, available play spaces may be limited. Be prepared to wait or get creative with your playspace.
  4. Clean your play spaces after using them.
  5. This is a sensual but not sex-active event.
  6. While other forms of kink furniture may be present, Wrapt is a rope jam specifically; please respect that intention. Feel free to explore rope and other activities together however!
  7. Photography of your own scenes are permitted with the consent of everyone in the photo and prior discussion will be done with them (posting, tagging, etc.)
  8. Breathplay is not allowed. Additionally, please read our AfterDark & Stopgap Neck Rope Definition Announcement.

The rules and guidelines are in addition to the general AfterDark Events rules/guidelines found here.

About the Hosts

@bluhbluhhugeb (he/him) is a service-oriented switch who loves rope. He has been exploring rope since late 2021 through events/classes in the Bay Area and at kink conventions across the country. He is an active member of the local kink community and volunteers for a number of local kink organizations.

Ann (he/him) is a rope nerd/switch who has a great affection for empathetic-sensual tying. Originally fascinated by the erotic roots and aesthetics of rope bondage, he has been studying and practicing rope in Taiwan and Japan since 2016, and is currently active in the Bay Area as a community member and volunteer. He is passionate about rope education for everyone, and also wishes to hold space for discussions beyond techniques on challenges and nuisances people face in their rope journeys! Find him on FL @TinyScreams and IG @annsfriedrice

@IguanaBonds (she/her) is a rope switch who supports Wrapt through volunteering while constantly building her rope top skills, laughing through suffering ties, and fangirling over fat people in rope. She identifies as equal part lizard sprawled on a rock in the sun and Team Mom. She’s been studying rope since early 2023.

@G_Jessie (she/her) is a top-leaning rope switch who started as a rope bottom a few years ago. Since late 2022, she has focused on tying sensual rope and predicament, blending traditional and modern shibari. She aims to create empowering, emotionally resonant experiences. Active in the Bay Area rope community, she supports Wrapt by fostering collaboration, creativity, and connection among fellow enthusiasts.
