"Relationship Anarchy has become increasingly popular in recent years, but what does it really mean to organize your relationships according to this philosophy?
Laura Boyle and Annie Undone, each of them having come to relationship anarchy through much exploration, learning, and life experience, are happy to present this 90-minute workshop on what RA is, and what some ways it can work in real life are.
If you think you like some of the things you've heard about Relationship Anarchy, but you aren't sure if you're going to need to change your politics, take up extra romances, or entirely reimagine how your current relationship(s) look - come to class and let's bust some myths and talk about about real possibilities together. Your two RA Mamas are here, they're queer, and they're going to help you figure out: What is Relationship Anarchy, and is it for you?"
It comes with a pdf handout of resources for attendees, and we had a class agenda listed on the previous iteration:
Arrival and settling in (5 minutes):
Because no one is perfectly on time to online classes and we love you all.
Demystifying RA (15 min):
What is relationship anarchy anyway? What does it have to do with political anarchy? Do I have to learn to spray paint the anarchy symbol to be a relationship anarchist? Is RA some kind of higher plane of non-monogamy? is it a kind of non-monogamy at all? And more RA myths busted.
Customize Your Commitments: RA in Practice (30 min):
How do we *do* these relationships anyway? What does it mean to deconstruct norms around romance and relationships? Personal anecdotes, tools to use to discover your relationship values, and more in this section of the class.
Building for the Lovely Unexpected: RA Relationships (30 min):
What do the possibilities look like as we embrace these non-normative relationships? What are common pitfalls and how can they be avoided and addressed? We discuss queer platonic partnerships, what it can look like to center our relationships around different expectations than milestones, and more in this section.
Q&A:
We're open to your questions about all this and more for the rest of the time available. Thanks so much for coming - please see the PDF handout for a reading list and other information.
